TEACHING EXPERIENCE

 

Sep 2003 –       Head of English and Bachelor Years Co-ordinator

                       Wittenborg University, Deventer, THE NETHERLANDS

International students are predominantly Chinese and Vietnamese, studying for IELTS and admission to bachelors degree programs. My role involves curriculum development, teaching IELTS, leadership of a group of 5 staff and direct liaison with the directors of the University. I have also been involved in recruiting students (interviewing in Shanghai, China and Hanoi, Vietnam). For full job description, please click here.

 

Aug-Sep 2003    Lecturer – Pre-sessional EAP course

                         University of Central Lancashire, UK

All participants on the course were Chinese students who had come to the UK to complete the final year of their BSc degree. The course focused on general EAP as well as ESP (electronics/engineering).

 

Oct 2002 -         IELTS Examiner

Examining for the British Council primarily in Shanghai, Nanjing and Wuhan.

 

Sep 02 - July 03 English Teacher

Duties involved teaching General English courses, English for Academic Purposes, and IELTS Preparation courses. During the second semester, I was called upon to assume the role of Acting Principal for a three week period, managing a team of 6 teachers and one administrator.

Teaching an elementary group composed of Japanese, Korean and Azeri students, aged between 12 and 17 years in a residential summer school program.

I set up a business exporting law books to Malaysia, Singapore, India, Africa and other former Commonwealth countries, which was subsequently sold as a going concern.

I joined as the CI  I joined as Commissioning Editor on a multi-volume taxation encyclopaedia, before transferring to the sales team.
