  • Betsy JONES 1878-82 (admitted when aged 9)

  • Eliza BURTON 1882-84 (who arrived in the asylum pregnant and gave birth there)

  • Emily Mary SUFFIELD 1881 (estranged wife of a prominent Birmingham surgeon)

  • William ELSE 1858-81 (my great, great, great grandfather)

  • Ann Julia GRIFFIN 1854-73 (a 28 year old who was suicidal)

  • Thomas WATSON 1885-88 (an epileptic who received a partial leg amputation in 1887; he was discharged well in 1888)
